Plumbing
Some people say civilization would never be possible without the plumber. That might be an exaggeration, but the reality is plumbing is a vital part of everyone's routine and when it breaks down, normal life is very disrupted.

In the most general sense, a plumber works with pipes, tubing, and plumbing fixtures for potable (drinking) water systems and the drainage of waste. On an everyday basis, plumbers may unclog pipes, fix leaks, or even construct an entire plumbing system in a new home or during a remodel.

It's a good idea to establish a working relationship with a local plumber for routine repairs. That way you will have someone to call if an emergency should occur after hours or on the weekend. To find a plumber, you can check your local yellow pages or speak to your general contractor, your real estate agent, or other homeowners in the area.

Because of the intricacies involved in their work, most states require that plumbers be licensed, and it also pays to make sure your professional is properly insured. After all, a small leak can often turn into a big problem down the road if you don't choose the right person.
